Bulk Comments Import via CSV in Better Blog Comments for Shopify

Want to migrate comments from another platform into your Shopify store?

Better Blog Comments Bulk CSV Import lets you upload hundreds of comments at once—saving hours of manual entry.

🚦 Quick Start Checklist

  1. Download the CSV Template from the app Settings page.

    Use Google Sheets, Excel, or your favorite editor to open the template.

    The first row contains all supported fields (see below).

  2. Fill Out Your Comments

    Use the sample rows as a guide.

    Enter as much info as possible.

  3. Test with 1–2 Comments First

    Upload a small sample to ensure formatting is correct before importing your full list.

📋 CSV Field Reference

Below are the fields you’ll see in the template, with notes on formatting and special options.

Field Name Description & Format
id ID of your comment.
article_id (Optional) Shopify Article ID to attach the comment to an existing blog post. Leave blank to create new.
blog_id Shopify Blog ID (see below for how to find it).
author_name Name of the comment's author.
author_email Email of the comment's author.
content Content of the comment.
rating Add rating value between 1 and 5.
parent_comment_id (Optional) Add parent comment ID to display it as a thread.
status 1 = published, 0 = hidden. If blank, defaults to 1 (published).
created_at Comment creation date.
updated_at Comment's last update date.

🏷️ Special Field Details

status

  • 1  = Publish the comment immediately.
  • 0  = Keep the comment hidden after import.
  • If left blank, Better Blog Comments will set it to 1  (published).

blog_id

  • Find this in your Shopify Admin: Go to Content > Blog Posts > Manage blogs > click the blog you want to add the comment to. The URL will look like: https://admin.shopify.com/store/your-store-name/blogs/77201539185  The number at the end is your blog_id.

article_id

  • (Optional) Attach the comment to an existing blog post.
  • Find this in the article’s URL: https://admin.shopify.com/store/your-store-name/articles/558726021233  The number at the end is your article_id.

parent_comment_id

  • (Optional) Attach the comment to a parent comment for displaying it beneath as a thread. You have to add same ID mentioned in the first column in the file named 'id', which is manually set from your side.

🛠️ Importing Your CSV

  1. Open Better Blog Comments in Shopify.
  2. Go to App Settings.
  3. Find the Import Comments section at the bottom.
  4. Upload your completed CSV file.
  5. Click Upload CSV File.

Tip: Large imports may take several minutes. You can track progress in the app.
