Adding Cloudflare Turnstile spam protection to your blog comments

Enabling Cloudflare's privacy friendly Turnstile service is an easy way to stop bots and spammers from submitting comments on your Shopify store blog. Using Better Blog Comments, you can enable the Turnstile CAPTCHA service easily after creating a Cloudflare account. Follow the steps below for a quick guide on how to do this.

Step 1: Create a Cloudflare Account

  1. Sign Up: If you do not already have a Cloudflare account, go to the Cloudflare website and sign up using your email address.
  2. Log In: Once your account is created, log in to the Cloudflare dashboard.

Step 2: Add Your Site to Cloudflare

  1. Navigate to Turnstile: In the Cloudflare dashboard, find and click on the Turnstile option in the left-hand menu.
  2. Add Site: Click on the Add Site button.
  3. Enter Site Details:
    • Site Name: Enter a name for your site. This is for your reference and will not be publicly visible.
    • Domain: Enter the domain name of your website.
    • Widget Mode: Select the widget mode. The recommended option is Managed, where Cloudflare decides the type of challenge based on the browser's request.

Step 3: Generate Site Key and Secret Key

  1. Create Keys: After entering the site details, click the Create button. This will generate your Site Key and Secret Key.
  2. Copy Keys: Copy both the Site Key and Secret Key. These keys are essential for integrating Cloudflare Turnstile with your application.

Step 4: Add Keys to Better Blog Comments

  1. Access Better Blog Comments Settings: Open Better Blog Comments, navigate to the Settings page.
  2. Navigate to CAPTCHA Settings: Go to the settings section where you can configure CAPTCHA options. Check the checkbox to Enable Cloudflare Turnstile.
  3. Enter Keys:
    • Site Key: Paste the Site Key you copied from Cloudflare.
    • Secret Key: Paste the Secret Key you copied from Cloudflare.
  4. Save Settings: Save the changes to apply the Cloudflare Turnstile CAPTCHA to your Shopify blog comments.
